April 25, 2026In a renewed push for a cleaner and healthier environment, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE) today led a high-level stakeholders’ meeting and official flag-off of the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Advocacy Exercise at the Lekki LCDA Secretariat.
The engagement brought together HRM Oba Liasim Olumuyiwa Ogunbekun, the Onilekki of Lekki, alongside the Council Manager, Leader of the House, Councilors, Supervisors, SLG, HOD of Environment, Baales, political and religious leaders, PSP operators, and members of the general public, reflecting a united commitment to environmental sustainability.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman stressed that environmental laws would be strictly enforced, noting that violators risk arrest and prosecution. He highlighted key interventions including the deployment of incinerators, clearing of shanties, and provision of general waste bins across communities.
He called on residents to take ownership of their environment, urging them to serve as the government’s “eyes and ears,” while also warning against the assault of environmental officers. He further revealed plans to inaugurate vigilante teams to monitor compliance, reiterating that no offender would be shielded.
The Chairman also commended HRM Oba Liasim Olumuyiwa Ogunbekun for maintaining commendable sanitation standards around the palace, describing him as a true ambassador of a clean Lekki.
In his remarks, the Onilekki called for stricter enforcement against households without waste bins and condemned acts of open defecation and indiscriminate dumping of waste, particularly along the beachfront.
Also speaking, the General Manager of PSP, Mr. Ilori, emphasized the affordability of waste management services and urged residents to cooperate fully to ensure proper disposal practices.
The initiative underscores the Council’s resolve to prevent disease outbreaks and achieve its vision of making Lekki LCDA one of the cleanest in Lagos State.
Together, we will build a cleaner, safer, and more responsible Lekki.
