RBK: LEKKI LCDA CHAIRMAN SETS UP LIBRARIES IN EIGHT PUBLIC SCHOOLS
January 23, 2026The Department of Education and Library Services in Lekki LCDA organized a Safety and Security Awareness Programme for public schools within the council area, as part of efforts to promote a safe learning environment for students and staff on Monday, January 19th, 2026 at the Council Secretariat Hall. The programme brought together school administrators, teachers, security personnel, parents’ representatives, and students. It focused on practical strategies for preventing insecurity, responding to emergencies, and strengthening collaboration between schools and security agencies.
Declaring the programme open, the Chairman of Lekki LCDA ably represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Oluremi Alogba emphasized that the safety of children remains a top priority of the council. She noted that students especially the girls should cultivate the habit of dressing properly and taking appropriate sitting posture while she demonstrated how a girl child should always sit. She emphasized on this because dressing and good sitting posture are some of the ways individuals can handle security challenges such as bullying, harassment, molestation among others.
In his lecture, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO),Akodo, CSP Peter F. Obamiyi stressed the importance of Police Force in the society. ” Nigerian Police is an enemy of criminals so that everyone in the society can sleep with their two eyes closed.” he affirmed. While encouraging report of suspicious activities, he however, encouraged every participant to join the force so as to maintain law and order, protect the lives and properties of all and apprehend criminals for a safe society. He gave the emergency toll-free lines (112) for unhindered communication with security agencies.
Similarly, the Representative of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Dangote Refinery Unit Command, the Route Commander, MD Daramola Unit Accountant, in his speech educated participants to be sensitive about happenings in their environment. Emphasizing that the roads in Lekki LCDA axis are highways, he pleaded with everyone to be vigilant and careful while plying the roads; use seat belts while in vehicles, make use of the pedestrian bridges which will soon be constructed, caution drivers when overspeeding, avoid playing on the highway and face uncoming vehicles. He encouraged participants to call the FRSC toll-free number (122) anytime in case of emergency and they will be attended to immediately.
Speaking at the event, the President of National Association of Ibeju-lekki Students, Comrade Odubote Adiza Mopelola shared her experience to cheer the students to be mindful of their companions, choice of words and communications. She assured the students that security agencies are their friends and are working hard to ensure their safety but they should be more self cautious, self controlled and self confidence.
The presence of the Chairperson of Lekki LCDA, Mrs. Ramat Kasali brightened the atmosphere. She gave a warm wave and greetings to students, and dignitaries present respectively and gave the reassuring support of the Executive Chairman Hon Rasaki Bamidele Kasali for the welfare of students and teachers in Lekki LCDA. The programme ended with a question-and-answer session.
